5 Lakes Tour: Bow, Peyto, Louise, Moraine with Picnic
Full-day small-group adventure to four of the most iconic lakes in Banff National Park.
Experience our favorite signature journey through the Canadian Rockies — a carefully designed small-group adventure combining iconic lakes, scenic hidden stops, and a relaxed mountain picnic surrounded by unforgettable alpine landscapes. This is not a rushed standard bus tour, but a thoughtfully planned experience created by locals who truly love the Rockies and know how to make the day feel special.
Over the years, this route has become one of our absolute favorite ways to show guests the beauty of Banff National Park. We carefully designed the timing, stops, and pacing to avoid unnecessary stress, maximize the best scenery throughout the day, and create a comfortable, personal atmosphere that feels more like traveling with experienced local friends than joining a commercial sightseeing tour.
Travel in a comfortable small-group setting along the legendary Icefields Parkway and discover four of the most breathtaking lakes in the Canadian Rockies, each offering its own unique atmosphere, colors, and mountain views.
Tour Highlights
- Visit the world-famous Peyto Lake and admire one of the most spectacular panoramic viewpoints in the Rockies
- Explore peaceful Bow Lake surrounded by glaciers, alpine forests, and dramatic mountain scenery
- Enjoy a relaxed scenic picnic stop in the heart of the mountains with fresh air, incredible views, and time to truly slow down and enjoy the atmosphere
- Discover legendary Moraine Lake in the breathtaking Valley of the Ten Peaks
- Walk along the shoreline of iconic Lake Louise and admire the Victoria Glacier
- Travel in a small group with personalized service and a relaxed pace throughout the day
- Enjoy carefully planned timing and local expertise designed to avoid the most stressful parts of crowded sightseeing routes
What makes this experience different is the atmosphere. We believe the Rockies should be enjoyed slowly — with enough time for photos, quiet moments by the water, scenic drives through the mountains, and relaxed conversations along the way. Instead of simply moving from viewpoint to viewpoint, we focus on creating a day that feels memorable, comfortable, and genuinely enjoyable from beginning to end.
This tour is perfect for travelers who want more than a standard sightseeing trip and are looking for a more personal, thoughtfully organized experience with beautiful scenery, local knowledge, and the feeling of discovering the Rockies through a route created with real care and passion for the mountains.
3 Lakes (Emerald, Louise, Moraine) with hike in Johnston Canyon
Discover one of our favorite summer routes through the Canadian Rockies — a carefully crafted small-group experience combining turquoise lakes, dramatic mountain scenery, hidden local gems, and a relaxed atmosphere throughout the day. Designed with comfort, flexibility, and thoughtful timing in mind, this tour is perfect for travelers looking for something more personal than a standard crowded sightseeing trip.
This author-designed route brings together some of the most breathtaking locations in both Banff National Park and Yoho National Park, while allowing enough time to truly enjoy the mountains instead of rushing between viewpoints.
Travel in a comfortable small-group setting with friendly local guidance and carefully planned stops that reflect our experience operating tours in the Rockies throughout the season. From peaceful forest lakes to iconic glacier viewpoints, every part of the route was chosen because we genuinely love sharing these places with our guests.
Tour Highlights
- Visit stunning Emerald Lake, famous for its vibrant green-blue water surrounded by towering mountain peaks and quiet alpine forests
- Explore world-renowned Lake Louise and admire the Victoria Glacier from the lakeshore
- Discover breathtaking Moraine Lake in the spectacular Valley of the Ten Peaks (summer seasonal access only)
- Along the way, we will make scenic stops with views of one of the park’s most dramatic mountains - Castle Mountain - as well as the unusual Natural Bridge over the Kicking Horse river.
- Walk through a beautiful mountain canyon with waterfalls, rushing glacier-fed water, and scenic forest trails
- Enjoy a relaxed lunch stop in Lake Louise Village with time to recharge and explore the area comfortably
- Travel in a small-group setting with a relaxed pace, personalized service, and scenic stops along the way
One of the things that makes this experience unique is flexibility. Mountain weather in the Rockies can change quickly, especially during shoulder seasons. If conditions make access to the canyon or Moraine Lake difficult, we may instead visit beautiful Banff, where guests can enjoy the charming mountain atmosphere, local cafés, scenic streets, and additional viewpoints. This allows the day to remain enjoyable, comfortable, and memorable regardless of changing conditions in the mountains.
Unlike large commercial tours focused on strict schedules and crowded bus stops, we believe the Rockies should be experienced in a more relaxed and thoughtful way — with enough time to enjoy the scenery, take photos, breathe the mountain air, and fully appreciate the beauty around you.
This tour is ideal for travelers who value personal atmosphere, local expertise, scenic hidden moments, and a carefully designed route created with genuine passion for the Canadian Rockies.
